Why Touring Vietnam by Motorbike is the Best Way!
Motorcycle tours of Vietnam are a popular way to see the country. But why?
After guiding hundreds of tours of the past 10 years, here are the top 5 reasons why I think everyone should visit and experience Vietnam on two wheels:
Reason #1: It’s fun and exhilarating. There’s nothing quite like feeling the wind and open air while on the road.
Whereas cars and buses are enclosed, going by motorbike allows an interaction with the environment that makes you feel more connected.
All your senses are engaged.
Reason #2: It’s safe. Though you can travel through many countries via motorbike, Vietnam’s infrastructure and culture is set up for travel via two wheels.
Drivers of personal and commercial vehicles are very aware of motorbikes. People also typically drive slower in Vietnam, especially when navigating in towns. Though you might be initially surprised by traffic differences on the road, you’ll also come to respect and even enjoy how we travel by motorbike.
With our guided motorbike tours, you’ll be riding with an experienced Vietnamese driver who will ensure your safety and comfort are taken care of.
Reason #3: Freedom to explore. Motorbikes can go where cars and large vehicles cannot. We often take rural country roads, go into small villages, and ride along rice paddies, all areas off limits to larger vehicles.
Reason #4: Alternative mode of transport. Many visitors in Vietnam go from city to city. You can go by car, train, and sometimes plane. But if you’re already planning on going from one city to the next, consider transiting by motorbike and make a tour of it.
When you go by motorbike we can either carry your luggage with us or send it ahead to your next accommodation. Then, as you go between cities, we can visit sites that you’d otherwise miss if you only went straight to the next city.
Reason #5: A dream trip you’ll never forget. One of my favorite things is helping people experience Vietnam and often the very first time they’ve been on a motorcycle. Usually it’s a combination of both, someone’s first time in Vietnam on a motorcycle.
As a rider, you can just relax knowing our guides will expertly navigate the bike and handle all the planning details along the way. They can answer any questions you have, translate if needed, and be that friend to help you orient to an unfamiliar place.
Most importantly, you’ll get to experience Vietnam in a way most people don’t get to: from the experience of a local and all the hidden gems not in guidebooks or online.
What to Expect on Each Motorbike Tour
One expert guide/driver per guest: We want you to fully immerse yourself and enjoy this experience. Our team of experts will take care of all the driving. All you have to do is ride.
If you are an experienced rider and would like to rent and ride your own bike, please contact us and learn more about the possibilities and requirements (proof of international motorcycle license, etc.).
We meet you where you are at: Once you book a tour with us, we’ll coordinate your pickup and drop-off points. We will come to you — no taxis are required.
We go at an enjoyable pace: Our main goal is to provide you with a safe and amazing experience. We have carefully and thoughtfully designed each tour to minimize riding fatigue and to maximize the time visiting and experiencing the best of what Vietnam has to offer.
You can expect to ride of a set amount of time and then take breaks to view a site, have a coffee, use the restroom, and/or enjoy a meal.
Tours are inclusive: We provide the bike, guide, meals (if mentioned in the package), water, rain gear (if needed), and helmets. You are responsible for wearing good shoes, bringing a jacket (if you get cold), and any cash for souvenirs. Tips for guides are not included in tour price.
We are a local, family owned and operated business: We are not a large tour agency and do not work on commission for hotels or other businesses. I (Mr. Phu) work directly with our guests and if I’m unavailable for a particular date, I will connect you with a trusted member of my team to host your motorbike tour.
